Itinerary
Day 1 - Entry to the Land of the Rising Sun
Arrival in Bhalukpong: Cross the border from Assam into Arunachal Pradesh and settle into this scenic town situated along the banks of the Kameng River.
Kameng Riverbank: Spend a relaxed afternoon by the river, known for its crystal-clear water and lush green surroundings, perfect for a peaceful family walk.
Orchid Research Centre: Visit the nearby Tippi Orchidarium, which houses thousands of orchid species in a spectacular glass house.
Day 2 - Scenic Vistas of Dirang Valley
Drive to Dirang: Wind through the mountain roads, stopping at various viewpoints to capture the dramatic change in landscape as you gain altitude.
Dirang Dzong: Explore this 17th-century fortified village featuring traditional stone houses that showcase the unique Monpa architecture.
Hot Water Springs: Take a refreshing dip in the natural hot springs near the Dirang River, believed to have medicinal properties and great for relaxing after the drive.
Day 3 - Crossing the Mighty Sela Pass to Tawang
Sela Pass & Lake: Cross the high-altitude Sela Pass (13,700 ft). Stop at the stunning Sela Lake, which often remains partially frozen, offering a surreal backdrop for photos.
Jaswant Garh War Memorial: Pay your respects at this shrine dedicated to the brave Indian soldier Jaswant Singh Rawat, who fought heroically during the 1962 war.
Nuranang Falls: Witness the spectacular 100-meter drop of the Jung Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Northeast India.
Day 4 - Spiritual Immersion in Tawang
Tawang Monastery: Visit the largest monastery in India and the second largest in the world, perched on a hill with a commanding view of the entire valley.
Giant Buddha Statue: Admire the serene 30-foot golden statue of Lord Buddha that overlooks the town, offering a peaceful spot for meditation.
Tawang War Memorial: In the evening, attend the moving light and sound show that narrates the history of the region and the bravery of the armed forces.
Day 5 - High Altitude Wonders: Bum La and Madhuri Lake
Bum La Pass: Take a dedicated local taxi to the Indo-China border (subject to permits and weather) to see the high-altitude frontier and the “Heap of Stones” monument.
Sangetsar Tso (Madhuri Lake): Visit this breathtaking lake formed by an earthquake, famous for the upright dead trees standing in its waters.
P.T. Tso Lake: Stop by the tranquil Pankang Teng Tso Lake on your way back, surrounded by rhododendrons and snow-capped peaks.
Day 6 - Cultural Heritage of Bomdila
Drive to Bomdila: Head back down the mountains to the quaint town of Bomdila, enjoying the views of the Himalayan range from a different perspective.
Bomdila Monastery: Visit the Gontse Gaden Rabgyel Lhatse Monastery, a center for Buddhist teachings with a beautiful prayer hall and vibrant murals.
Bomdila Viewpoint: Catch a stunning sunset from the viewpoint, which offers a bird’s-eye view of the Nechipu Pass and the surrounding valleys.
Day 7 - Apple Orchards and Departure
Local Markets & Orchards: Visit the famous apple orchards of Bomdila (seasonal) and shop for traditional hand-woven carpets and masks made by local artisans.
Last Look at the Hills: Enjoy a final breakfast with a view of the misty mountains before beginning your descent toward the plains of Assam.
Departure: Transfer back to the airport or railway station (typically Guwahati or Tezpur) to catch your flight home.
